Diabetes careImportant Points Regarding Diabetes Care
Diabetes is a condition that affects a person's blood sugar levels. There are three different types of diabetes, all of which are slightly
different. There is Type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes that only affects pregnant women. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by the reduction
of insulin level that the pancreas produces, while type 2 diabetes is characterized by the inability of some parts of the body to break down
sugar. Insulin is a hormone which is responsible for breaking down glucose and providing the body with the energy it needs.
Diabetes cannot be cured, it can only be treated. Whatever diabetic care treatment path is chosen for patients by their doctor, it is vital that
they also take control of their own life by adjusting their diet. Diabetes care is important not only when patients have been already diagnosed
with diabetes, but also when they are still in the pre-diabetes stage.
To determine if you need to start diabetes care, you must know about your family medical history. Is there a history of diabetes in your family?
If so, you must change your diet in order to avoid the onset of diabetes. If you can prevent developing diabetes then it's for the best,
otherwise it can be a very difficult condition to manage as diabetes care can become a very exhausting task.
One of the most important parts of diabetes care is going for a check up every year. This enables your doctor to know exactly how your condition
is affecting your body. Your doctor will also use this opportunity to monitor the effectiveness of any medication you are currently on and adjust
them if needed.
Regular eye check ups are also part of diabetic care. Have your eyes checked at least once a year. Diabetes can affect the eyes, and if left
untreated can result in blindness. Another very important point if you suffer from diabetes is that you shouldnt smoke. Smoking can increase the
risk of heart disease and strokes because it narrows the blood vessels. Smoking can also cause kidney problems, and even nerve damage so its a
good idea to include kicking the smoking habit as part of your diabetes care regimen.
Stress can also contribute to diabetes, so you should learn to unwind and not let stress get you down. Stress is thought to increase the
production of certain hormones, which could actually reduce insulin production or make it less effective.
You need to be vigilant in following a diabetes care regimen in order for you to control and manage your condition. With the proper diabetes
care, which includes the the right diet and lifestyle, you can live a very long and happy life.
