If left untreated, type 2 diabetes can cause serious complications. Gestational diabetes is also another form that only affects women when they are pregnant. This form of diabetes is actually quite easy to manage. The hormones released in pregnancy can occasionally cause tissues to resist the insulin. As soon as a woman gives birth, things should return to normal. Thus, gestational diabetes is a condition that needs to be managed only during pregnancy. Finding a Cure for Diabetes Unfortunately at the moment, there is not really a cure for diabetes. There are, however, ways to treat the symptoms of diabetes. If you are suffering from diabetes then your doctor will likely prescribe you with drugs to alleviate the symptoms. For sufferers of type 1 or 2 diabetes, most doctors will suggest strict diets and exercise as a cure for diabetes. In severe cases, doctors may prescribe injectable insulin, which can be used to control blood glucose level. Doctors have considered the possibility of using transplant surgery for the pancreas cells in order to increase production. This is an experimental cure for diabetes and is not done on humans yet. Studies with this experimental form of possible cure for diabetes have suggested that medication will be required in order to prevent the transplanted cells from being destroyed again by the immune system. It could take a very long time before a cure for diabetes can be found. The best that any diabetes sufferer can do is to manage the condition through proper diet and medication. Its worthwhile keeping an eye out what research is currently being conducted when it comes to finding a cure for diabetes.
