Sports Stars Suffering from Diabetes
You may have heard before that diabetic people cannot take part in sports. What a load of nonsense! If you have diabetes, your doctor will
suggest you take up a sport because regular exercise is needed to effectively manage diabetes. There are a great number of sporting personalities
who are in fact diabetic, and here are a few of the more famous ones:
- The first ever American person to win Wimbledon, Arthur Ashe, suffered from Type 2 diabetes. He died because of a blood transfusion that
infected him with AIDS.
- The famous Philadelphia Flyers hockey player Bobby Clarke has Type 1 diabetes.
- The heavyweight boxer that beat Mike Tyson in 1990, James Douglas has Type 1 diabetes

Professional musicians lead a hectic life; they rarely have enough time to even eat. This alone can make being a musician with diabetes
difficult, but it can be done, and it is simply imperative that people who suffer from diabetes to live their dream! A number of very famous
musicians are actually diabetic:
- The immensely famous Elvis Presley suffered from Type 2 diabetes among other things.
- The guitarist Jerry Garcia suffered from Type 2 diabetes.
- The lead singer of Poison, Bret Michaels, has type 1 diabetes since he was 6 years old.
Authors Who Are Diabetic
Writing is a difficult and unpredictable way to earn a living because there is no guaranteed income. But believe it or not, it is possible to
write and manage diabetes. There are a number of famous diabetic authors:
- The extremely famous English writer H G Wells suffered from Type 1 diabetes since birth. He is the founder of the British diabetics
association.
- Ernest Hemmingway suffered from diabetes. He took his own life, which was likely caused by too much alcohol and depression.
- Laura Ingalls Wilder suffered from diabetes but she managed to outlive many other people. She lived up to 90 years!
